MCPLA Event at Currie Park Golf Course - Results

2018 MCPLA 2 MAN BEST BALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

PGA Professional Dave Labinski and his staff did an excellent job providing great conditions despite the challenging conditions. Their assistance was incredible in making this past weekend a success. Many thanks to starter Glen Jaeger for his great job keeping the tee times precise. Also a huge thank you to rules officials Arnold Walker for his on-course help. At age 95, he still does a great job!!!

Finally a huge thank you for scoring help from Jay Anosov. He kept the scoreboard rolling even with the new scoring system. Many thanks to Sports writer Gary D’Amato for coming out and interviewing Arnold for over one hour. He will be writing an article on his career.

Congratulations to Mike Scott and Chris Richards on their impressive score of 60. Scores were low and competition was tight. Those who cashed will be mailed their merchandise gift cards. They are redeemable at any of the County courses. In light of this year’s successful tournament, I am going to recommend that next year’s event be held at Currie Park again. The course seems perfect for this competition and participation was better than I anticipated. I am committed to continuing and improving the MCPLA Tournaments, so if you have any suggestions or ideas, please let me know.

Club Event at The Oaks Golf Course - Results

Notable Highlights from the day, aside from the fantastic weather:

- Steve Jaeger, in addition to shooting a gross 75/ net 61, slam dunked his 3rd shot on #18 from 150+ yards out for an eagle.  "Have a day Steve Jaeger".

- The first group of the day consisting of "El Presidente", Jeff Brandt, Short Hitting VP Fairway Phil Levin, and Brian "Wallbanger" Waldera, finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the A Flight.  (Brian 1st, Phil 2nd, Jeff 3rd).  Although there were cries out for an audit, I am a former accountant and I can assure you none will be necessary.  I will note that there were some very creative par and bogey saves made throughout the round.     

- John Dobroski shot 2 under par 33 on the back 9.  Nice playing, John.

Second Team at Oakwood - Results

Gentlemen –

Well, the weather was perfect today, but our performance wasn’t, at least by our standards.  We took third place with 204 points, but the 2 teams that were ahead of us in the standings, Oakwood and Whitnall, finished 1^st and 2^nd with 223 and 222 points respectively.  Thus we lost ground for the season.  We now stand in third place for the year, 46 points behind Whitnall and 28 behind Oakwood.  Brown Deer is 51 behind us.

Four of our guys got over 20 points, Brian Waldera leading the way with 24, Kenny Collins took 23, Rich Saks 22, and Doug Bowring 21.  Waldera was our medalist with a nice 76 for 63 net.  Collins shot 77.

In individual awards Bob Cristan took a skin with a birdie on the 12^th and Larry Anderson was closest in 2 on the 16^th hole.  These results are all unofficial by the way until Director Pederson reviews them tomorrow.

The next match is at our house and we’ll be looking for a big day to get in contention for the season title.
