Well, it hurts to say this, but we didn’t quite get the job done today out at Whitnall. Greenfield won the event with 126 points and we were second with 115, but they started the day just 10 points behind us, so if you figured out the math, you know they won the season by 1 stinking point over us. That is correct, 1 point, 592 for them to 591 for us. It was a close match all the way down to the end between us, Greenfield, and Oakwood, but Greenfield’s last 2 players came in with 17 and 18 points to take the top spot. Congratulations to them and their captain, Jim Sell. It was a great season for them and for Second Team.
That stops our 3 season win streak, but we’ll come back next year ready to start a new streak.
Our point leaders today were Brian Pederson and Dave Ullenberg with 16 each and Scott Brandt with 15. Ullenberg was our medalist with 77. Dominic Carini and Brandt shot 80. Steve Amble won a skin with a birdie on 4, Ullenberg took one with birdie on 15, and Ullenberg also took closest to the pin on 15 to round out our individual awards.
Our point leader for the season was Director Pederson with 58. Steve Jaeger finished with 49, Gerry McGrath 47, Mark Cuthbert 44, yours truly 42, and Darrell Frenzel 41. Twenty one different players competed for the team this season, winning an average of 9.9 points per man per match. Too bad it wasn’t 10.
The usual summaries are listed below. Don’t forget to post your own scores. They will not be posted for you.
Once again, it was my pleasure and honor to captain a great bunch of guys.
Thanks,
Jack
