MCPLA Club Ryder Cup Challenge at Oakwood Park Golf Course - Results

Currie Park Men's Club competed Saturday, June 25 in the inaugural MCPLA Ryder Cup Challenge Match against the other Milwaukee County clubs at Oakwood golf course. In a very tight race that came down to the final groups, Currie put up a very strong challenge finishing 2nd with 11.5 points, finishing just a point behind 1st place Oakwood. The Phil Levin/Jeff Kapp team took all 3 points, followed by the Brian Pederson/Doug Bowring team which earned us 2.5 points. Full results are in the screenshot below, and the final standings were:

Oakwood: 12.5 points
Currie: 11.5
Brown Deer: 11
Whitnall: 9
Greenfield: 7.5
Grant: 7
Dretzka: 4.5

MCPLA Second Team at Dretzka Park Golf Course - Results

Gentlemen –

The Currie Second team had a good day today out at Dretzka, winning the event with 144 points. Greenfield was second with 126 points and Oakwood third with 121. We moved into a first place tie with Oakwood for the season at 265 points. Greenfield is third at 232.

Ten of our 12 players scored in double figures, Darrell Frenzel and Rich Saks leading the way with the maximum of 18 each. Bryan Olen chipped in with 17. Dominic Carini was our medalist with 79, and Saks and Frenzel both shot 82. In individual awards Saks took a skin with birdie on number one, Steve Jaeger took another with birdie on 18, and outgoing Director Brian Pederson took long putt on the third hole.

The golf course was in wonderful shape, and the greens were awesome. Thanks to Scott Walecki for running the event efficiently and handling the scoring.

Our next match is at Greenfield in just 2 weeks on Saturday, July 2. I will be recruiting a team this week, so let me know if you think you can score there and want to play.
