It was another close contest today at our home course, as the 7 MCPLA teams did battle in Team Matches, formerly called Second Team matches. We couldn’t quite win the day, but we did finish in second place, just one point behind Brown Deer. More importantly, we extended our season lead over 2nd place Greenfield by 12 points, giving us a 16 point cushion as we head to the final match at Oakwood on August 19th. Oakwood is in third place, a distant 78 points behind us.
Our high point men were Steve Jaeger with 15, Rich Saks and Jeff Camosy with 14, and Mark Cuthbert with 13. Jaeger was our medalist with a fine 75, good for a net 66! Cuthbert shot 78 and Phil Levin 79.
We took no skins, but Dom Carini took longest putt on 11.
Many thanks to our new club pro, Nic Dooley for taking good care of things today, and to former director Brian Pederson for helping out when a glitch was discovered. It became a bit hectic about halfway through the match, when we discovered the file sent to Nic from new director Tony P used hole handicaps and pars from Dretzka, not Currie. Brian then stepped in to assist Nic in correcting the file, after which Nic took whiteout to the big scoresheet and corrected everything in no time.
It’s hard to believe, but the summer is winding down, and we have just one match left, at Oakwood in three weeks. Unless Oakwood or Grant does something miraculous there, it looks like a 2 team race between us and Greenfield for the title, with us holding a narrow 16 point lead going in. We will be looking to capture our 12th season title in the last 15 years.
The usual files are listed below.. Be aware that everything is unofficial at this point, because Tony P has to look everything over to make sure it is all correct (with BP’s able assistance).
Thanks,
