MCPLA Team Match at Whitnall Park Golf Course - Results

Gentlemen –

It was a tough day out at Whitnall today, as the opening round of the 2024 Team Match competition carried on in rainy weather.  The first few groups may have stayed dry, but most groups experienced some rain, as it began around 11:30 and didn’t stop until about the time the last group finished, around 5:15.  It was never terribly heavy and there was no lightning, so everyone fought through the conditions and finished their rounds.

At this point the results summarized below are unofficial pending a rules issue that will be resolved shortly hopefully.  That said, the Currie men acquitted themselves well, finishing 2^nd behind the home team, Whitnall.  Whitnall captured 145 points and we took 138.  Defending champ Greenfield was third with 118.  Nine of our 121 players reached double figures, Steve Jaeger and Rich Saks leading the way with 18 each.  Dominic Carini scored 17.  Our medalists were Carini and Jaeger with 80, and Mark Cuthbert was 2 strokes back at 82.

 

The usual summaries are listed below, and again, I will add they are unofficial at this point.  If they change, I will let you know.
